DirtyFilthySexy began 13 years ago when DJ Greyskull began an alternative club-night for the LGBTQ community. DirtyFilthySexy has evolved and reinvented itself a few times over the years, but the core purpose has always been to provide an alternative to the mainstream scene. For those unfamiliar or new to us, we thought we would tell you a little about what is important to DirtyFilthySexy, what you can expect at our nights, and who we are…
DANCEFLOOR: We like the dancefloor to be busy and we play music that you often won’t hear elsewhere. Our DJ’s play alternative music – electro, techno, synth-pop, industrial indie, rock, metal, hip-hop and much more. Cutting edge new tunes and dancefloor classics. A bit of pop when the mood takes us. Lose yourself in the music on the dancefloor and know that nobody will judge you.
DRESS TO EXPRESS – We encourage our clubbers to dress to express – club-kid, punk, alternative, drag – let your freak flag fly! But this is absolutely not compulsory, there is no dress code and you can dress-down and wear whatever you like.
PHILOSOPHY – We’re punk and DIY with no attitude. We aim to provide a safe safe where people can party without fear of prejudice or judgement. No racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ageism… the list goes on because everyone is welcome. You don’t have to be LGBTQ to come party with us, but everyone must respect that the night is a safe space for a diverse LGBTQ crowd away from the mainstream scene.
ENTERTAINMENT: Our club-night hosts live music (bands, solo artists) alternative drag performers, cabaret artists and alternative DJ’s. Each event aims to offer something different to the last. Most of our events are smaller club-night events but we often bring you large scale events – recent examples include Alaska, Sasha Velour, the hosts and winners of Dragula and a sell-out 400 strong crowd on Pride at the Contemporary featuring Hungry.
